Meet the Team - Ko wai mātou 2021

Deborah Heasman

Kia ora everyone

I’m excited to be facilitating the awesome team of commenters for the Summer Learning Journey 2021-2022. I’m also looking forward to engaging with your fantastic mahi.

I have worked in schools for many years and am always excited to see how creative students can be. Your blogs will be such a fun thing to do and viewing them will be amazing for us all to read and comment on.

When I am not teaching I love hanging out with my friends and whānau, reading and playing games on my phone or computer.

Have fun with your tasks and challenge yourself to do the best you can.

Ngā mihi, Deborah

I was a blog commenter for the Summer Learning Journey 2019/2020 and am thrilled to be able to working with old and new faces again this summer!

I have just completed my second year of a Bachelor of Education (Primary) at the University of Waikato and am looking forward to graduating next year and starting my career.

In my spare time I like to paint, read and listen to music. I enjoy spending time outdoors, exploring new places and meeting new people.

I am very much looking forward to working with you all and with the students!

I am very excited to be working for the Manaiakalani Education Trust over the summer of 2020-2021 and supporting the students in our Summer Learning Journey.

I have currently just completed my 2nd year of a Bachelor of Education (primary) from The University of Waikato and looking forward to graduating next year!

I enjoy board games, playing music, hiking, skiing, and travelling - not much of that happening at the moment though.

I am looking forward to getting to know the students and all the rest of the commenters!

I am very excited to be working with the Manaiakalani Education Trust over the summer and look forward to supporting all the fantastic students and seeing all the awesome mahi that the students create!

I have spent the last Seven Years studying at the University of Auckland, I have studied a BA/BCOM (Conjoint), BA (honours), and I have recently completed my GradDip in Teaching (Secondary).

I enjoy spending time with my whānau, watching anime and listening to music. Finally, I really enjoy history and travelling around to different museums.

I am looking forward to working with all the awesome commentators and students, especially during the Summer Learning Journey.

Remember to have a Super Summer!

Kia ora! I’m excited to join the Summer Learning Journey whānau for 2021-2022! I’m looking forward to engaging with all of your fantastic mahi over this summer!

I have just completed my Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Secondary), and will be beginning my career as a High School teacher in February.

For the time being, I’ll be commenting on your amazing blogs, and getting to know all of you! When I’m not commenting this summer, I’ll probably be at the beach, in the bush walking, or spending some quality time with my own whānau.

I’m looking forward to an amazing Raumati with you all!

Kia ora!

I am excited to be working with Manaiakalani Education Trust for the first time this summer.

I am currently studying a Master of Education at the University of Auckland, researching health education in secondary schools. I am also a teaching assistant in health and criminology at AUT.

When I am not studying or working, I enjoy reading, spending time with my friends and lazing in the sun with my cat Mac.

Ngā mihi,

Lauren

Kia ora! My name is Chris, and this is my first time being a Manaiakalani blog commenter! I am so excited to be part of the 2021/22 Summer Learning Journey!

I have just completed my Graduate Secondary Teaching Diploma in English and Media Studies, after finishing a Bachelor of Arts Honours in 2019 at the University of Auckland. I’m both excited and very nervous for the beginning of my teaching career in 2022.

Outside of work and school, I am a very passionate film, music, comedy, and art fan. I’m very much a city person, but I do like getting out and hiking when the opportunity presents itself.

I can’t wait to see all the great submissions that I know are on their way from all of you!
